2,3,4,6-Tetra-O-acetyl-α-D-mannopyranosyl fluoride is a fluorinated glycoside that is used as a reagent in organic synthesis to fluorinate alcohols and amines. It selectively reacts with primary and secondary alcohols to give the corresponding fluorides. The product can be used for the synthesis of carboxylic acids and esters. 2,3,4,6-Tetra-O-acetyl-α-D-mannopyranosyl fluoride is also used in biochemistry research as a substrate for oligosaccharide synthesis. This product has been shown to react with proteins to form peptides and with DNA to form nucleosides.
