Product Information
- Isoquinolin-1-Ylmethanol
Isoquinolin-1-ylmethanol is a naphthalene derivative that inhibits the production of prostaglandin E2 by binding to the enzyme cyclooxygenase. It also contains a sulfoxide group that can be reduced to form a sulfide, which is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of prostaglandin E2. Isoquinolin-1-ylmethanol has been shown to inhibit the growth of Neisseria gonorrhoeae and cancer cells in culture. The drug's cytotoxic effects are due to its ability to modulate cell signalling pathways and induce programmed cell death (apoptosis).
