Product Information
1-(Naphthalen-1-yl)propan-2-ol (NAP) is a metabolite of naphthalene and is formed by demethylation of its parent compound. The metabolic pathway of NAP has been elucidated in plasma samples from infants, which show that it is metabolized to diacylglycerol and leukotriene D4. The stereospecificity of NAP has been revealed by a chromatographic method using metoprolol as the model substrate. High-performance liquid chromatography was used to separate fatty acids and determine their stereospecificity. The results showed that NAP had a higher affinity for the beta-receptor compared to the alpha-receptor.
