Product Information
3-Ethoxy-4-isopropoxybenzoic acid is a metabolite of vanillic acid, which is one of the major components in the culture medium of many fungi. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of vanillic acid resistant strains of fungus and is able to inhibit the formation of vanillic acid by hydroxylating vanillin. 3-Ethoxy-4-isopropoxybenzoic acid inhibits enzymes that are responsible for dealkylation reactions, such as cytochrome P450 enzymes, glutathione S transferases and glucuronyl transferases. This compound also produces an unpleasant odor when heated with nitrous oxide.
