Product Information
Actinamine dihydrochloride is a protonation agent that is used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals. Actinamine dihydrochloride prevents microbial growth by binding to the ribosome and preventing protein synthesis. It has been shown to be effective against low-basicity microorganisms, such as certain strains of Actinomyces, Corynebacterium, and Streptomyces. Actinamine dihydrochloride inhibits cell growth by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit and preventing mRNA translation. The protonated form of actinamine dihydrochloride can also bind to sites on the bacterial cell wall that are involved in peptidoglycan synthesis, causing inhibition and eventual cell death. Actinamine dihydrochloride has been shown to exhibit spectroscopic properties similar to those of other aminoglycosides.
