Description:
1,3-Isobenzofurandione is a compound that has been found in the wastewater from a chemical production plant. The toxicity of 1,3-Isobenzofurandione has been studied in vitro using ovary cells. The chloride concentration in 1,3-Isobenzofurandione was found to be toxic to cells at concentrations above 10 mM. It also inhibits protein synthesis and glycol ethers are hydrolyzed by 1,3-Isobenzofurandione. This compound can also form metal complexes with calcium carbonate and molybdenum.
