- (+)-Erysotramidine
Erysotramidine is a chiral compound that is used as an immunosuppressive agent and serotonin reuptake inhibitor. It has an inhibitory effect on the synthesis of proteins, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the activity of chiral protein enzymes. Erysotramidine has been shown to be effective against fungal infections, such as candida and Trichophyton mentagrophytes. It also inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, preventing transcription and replication. This active form is metabolized through a number of metabolic transformations, including hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase, or conjugation with glucuronic acid.
