Product Information
Epistephamiersine is a natural product that was first isolated from the roots of Stephania japonica, a plant in the family Rutaceae. Epistephamiersine has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria that are resistant to penicillin, ampicillin, and erythromycin. It binds to bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA and inhibits protein synthesis, leading to cell death by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. Epistephamiersine has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
