Product Information
Isokurarinone is a fatty acid that is found in the fruit of the fructus ligustri. It has been shown to have anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties. Isokurarinone has also been shown to be effective at inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, as well as inducing apoptosis in leukemia cells. This compound has been shown to enhance energy metabolism by increasing the activity of AMPK, which leads to an increase in ATP production and an increased mitochondrial membrane potential. The mechanism of action for this effect is not yet clear but may be due to inhibition of glycolysis or induction of gluconeogenesis, which reduces glucose levels and increases insulin sensitivity.
Isokurarinone also inhibits the proliferation of cancer cells by blocking cell cycle progression at G1 phase and reducing cell viability through induction of apoptosis.
