Product Information

Name:
Sodium (Trihydroxy)phenylborate
Synonyms:
  • Borate(1-), Trihydroxyphenyl-, Sodium (1:1)
  • Sodium trihydroxy(phenyl)borate(1-)
Description:

Sodium (trihydroxy)phenylborate is a boronic acid that can be synthesized by the reaction of phenylboronic acid with sodium hydroxide. It is used in organic chemistry as an activator for various reactions, such as formylation, transition metal-catalyzed cross coupling, hydrosilylation, and nitro group reduction. Sodium (trihydroxy)phenylborate has been shown to activate the C-H bond at the alpha position of a pyridyl group to form an enol ether. This reagent is also used in the synthesis of some important functional groups in organic chemistry, including alcohols and esters.
