Description:

2,2',3,4,4',5',6-Heptachlorobiphenyl is a polychlorinated biphenyl that has been shown to be an efficient stepwise nucleophile. It reacts with potassium hydroxide at temperatures of 60°C and higher to form 2,2',3,4,4',5'-hexachlorobiphenyl. 2,2',3,4,4',5'-Hexachlorobiphenyl is also formed when 2,2',3,4,4'-tetrachlorobiphenyl is heated in the presence of sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide. The elimination reactions are performed in the presence of 0.1M nitrobenzene or 0.1M phenol as a solvent and can be conducted at temperatures between 50°C and 100°C. These reactions have been found to be statistically significant for animals exposed to 2,2',3,
