Description:
2-(3,4-Dichloro-phenyl)-oxirane is a mixture of styrenes and epoxides that is produced by the hydrogenolysis of 2,3,4-trichlorophenol. This compound can be used to produce polymers such as polystyrene. The catalytic hydrogenolysis of 2-(3,4-dichloro-phenyl)-oxirane produces hydrogen gas and an aromatic hydrocarbon mixture. This process can be used for selective deoxygenation reactions in the presence of other functional groups.
