Product Information
2-Isopropyl-3,4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde is a reagent that is used in the synthesis of aminocoumarins. It is prepared by the reaction of 2-isopropylphenol with methyltriphenylphosphonium bromide and n-butyllithium. This compound has been used as a coupling partner in the asymmetric synthesis of coumarins. The reactions are performed in an inert solvent such as toluene or xylene at -78°C using a Grignard reagent, such as ethylmagnesium bromide, butyllithium, or phenyllithium. The coupling partner is added to the Grignard reagent, which produces a reactive intermediate that can be reacted with an electrophile to form the desired product. The sequence of these reactions is controlled by the selection of appropriate reactants and solvents.
