Product Information

Name:
Sulconazole
Description:

Sulconazole is a synthetic triazole antifungal agent that inhibits the enzyme cytochrome P450, which is involved in the biosynthesis of fatty acids. This drug has been shown to have strong antimicrobial activity against dimorphic fungi such as C. glabrata and Candida albicans and is used for the treatment of infections caused by these fungi. Sulconazole also inhibits aromatase and can be used to treat autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis because it reduces the production of estrogen, which is associated with inflammation. Sulconazole has a high bioavailability and pharmacokinetic properties that are similar to other drugs with a lipophilic structure. It is eliminated mainly through hepatic metabolism, but can also be excreted in urine or bile.
