Product Information
1-Ethyl-1-methyl-4-oxopiperidin-1-ium iodide is a potent and selective antagonist of the orphanin receptor type 5 (ORL5), which binds to the ccr5 receptor. This compound has been shown to inhibit HIV entry into cells, thereby preventing its replication. It also inhibits GTPγS binding to membranes and potently blocks membrane hyperpolarization in response to chemoattractant stimulation. 1-Ethyl-1-methyl-4-oxopiperidin-1-ium iodide may be used as a potential treatment for AIDS.
