Product Information
3-Aminononanoic acid is a hydrophobic, nonpolar amino acid that is found in the biosynthesis of several natural products. 3-Aminononanoic acid has been shown to be an efficient substrate analogue for the study of biochemical reactions involving antibiotics. 3-Aminononanoic acid can be used as a probe for the interaction of various oxidases and x-ray crystal structures have been determined to reveal its binding site on these enzymes. 3-Aminononanoic acid binds to the β-amino group of other amino acids and forms an intermediate that undergoes homologous exchange with an adjacent aminobutyric acid molecule. This creates a new enzyme subunit with a different orientation than the original one, leading to structural changes in the enzyme. The biosynthesis of 3-aminononanoic acid involves five steps: (1) conversion of ribose into ribulose 5-phosphate by rib
