1-(2-Phenyl-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-3-ylmethyl)-piperidine-4-carboxylic acid is a novel coumarin derivative. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor cells in vitro by binding to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), leading to inhibition of EGFR activity, and it inhibits the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors. 1-(2-Phenyl-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-3-ylmethyl)-piperidine-4-carboxylic acid has also been shown to have pharmacokinetic properties that are advantageous for oral administration.
