Desnitro-imidacloprid hydrochloride is an analytical standard used to validate the accuracy and precision of GC/MS methods for desnitro-imidacloprid, nitenpyram, thiacloprid, acetamiprid and imidacloprid. This compound is a neonicotinoid insecticide that kills insects by blocking nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. It is also used to study the metabolism of these compounds in plants and animals. The average recovery for desnitro-imidacloprid hydrochloride from ethyl acetate was 96%. The average recoveries for nitenpyram, thiacloprid, acetamiprid and imidacloprid were 103%, 103%, 101% and 102% respectively.
