Product Information
O-Ethyl-D-tyrosine (OET) is a potent and selective antagonist of the α2A receptor. It has been shown to inhibit the binding of norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin to the receptors. OET is used for anesthesia in rats by inhibiting the release of neurotransmitters from nerve endings. This drug also has been shown to have beneficial effects on congestive heart failure when given intravenously in vivo. Additionally, it has been shown that OET may be useful for treating ventricular dysfunction by inhibiting vasopressin receptors in cells of the cardiac tissue.
