Ro 41-1049 hydrochloride is a drug that inhibits the uptake of dopamine, which is involved in motivation and reward. It binds to the 5-HT2 receptors in the central nervous system, which are involved in mood regulation, sleep regulation, and appetite control. Ro 41-1049 hydrochloride has been shown to have a significant effect on locomotor activity in rats and to be effective for treating Parkinson's disease. The drug also inhibits the uptake of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which is an inhibitory neurotransmitter. Ro 41-1049 hydrochloride may also be useful for treating epilepsy and other conditions involving seizures or convulsions.
