Product Information
- Ethanedioic Acid, Europium(3+) Salt (3:2)
- Europium(3+) ethanedioate (2:3)
Europium(III) oxalate hydrate is a compound that is used in the hollowing of glass and porcelain. Europium(III) oxalate hydrate selectively reacts with oxalic acid, and can be used to detect europium(III). Europium(III) oxalate hydrate can also be used as a fluorescent agent for two-dimensional (2D) gel electrophoresis. The fluorescence of the europium ion is excited by UV light at 254 nm and emits light at 350 nm in the visible spectrum. Europium(III) oxalate hydrate has been shown to selectively react with terbium to form europium terbide, which can then be detected by atomic absorption spectroscopy.
