Product Information
(2E)-3-(4-Fluorophenyl)-1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one is a chalcone, which is a type of organic compound. It is an important precursor to vitamin A and other biologically active compounds. Chalcones are found in nature as components of essential oils and resins, or as products of plant metabolism. They are also produced by chemical synthesis, and have been used in perfumery for centuries. The 2D crystal structure was determined by X-ray crystallography. This chalcone has been crystallized with the help of the solvent ethyl acetate and the crystallization agent sodium tetraborate decahydrate. The experimental and calculated hydrogen bond constants are 0.53 Å and 0.53 Å respectively, which provides evidence for the presence of intramolecular hydrogen bonds in this molecule.
