2,4-Dichloro-5-methoxybenzaldehyde (2,4-DMB) is a condensation product of phenylacetonitrile and 2,4-dichlorobenzaldehyde. It can be used in the industrial production of bosutinib. Bosutinib is an inhibitor of tyrosine kinases that has been shown to be effective against chronic myeloid leukemia or acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Bosutinib binds to the ATP binding site on the tyrosine kinase domain of these proteins and prevents ATP from binding to this site, which inhibits the activation of these enzymes. 2,4-DMB also has some reduction reactions with other molecules.
