Di-Boc-spermine is a nicotinic acetylcholine that has been synthesized by the Diels-Alder reaction of 3,5-dimethylphenyldiazoacetic acid and 4-(2,6-diisopropylbenzoyl)benzonitrile. It is a synthetic molecule that is highly selective for the ganglionic acetylcholine receptor. Di-Boc-spermine blocks the binding of acetylcholine to this receptor and prevents the transmission of nerve impulses. This drug can be used in research on cancer, as it has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in xenopus oocytes.
