Product Information
8-(Benzyloxy)-5-bromoquinoline is a member of the 8-hydroxyquinolines and a precursor to 8-hydroxyquinoline. It is prepared by reduction of 8,8'-dibromoquinoline (1). The reaction proceeds via an amination reaction followed by catalytic hydrogenation. The optimized conditions for this transformation are a reaction time of 12 hours in an organic solvent, such as dichloromethane or tetrahydrofuran, at ambient temperature with palladium on charcoal catalyst. Buchwald's reagent and ferric chloride can be used as catalysts for this process.
