Description:
3-Cyano-2,4-diiodopyridine is a resonance stabilizer that can be used as a reagent in organic synthesis. It reacts with hydroxyl groups to form a resonance stabilized product. The proton transfer reactions of 3-cyano-2,4-diiodopyridine are barrierless and occur in the gas phase. This compound has been shown to act as a fluorinating agent for aromatic compounds. 3-Cyano-2,4-diiodopyridine also reacts with alkyl halides to form substituted pyridines in high yields.
