Chloro[1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazol-2-ylidene]gold(I) is an insoluble compound that is a molecular gold compound. It has a hydroxyl group on the terminal carbon and it is activated by hexane. It can be synthesized by reacting chloroauric acid with 2,6-dimethylaniline and then adding sodium nitrite. The hydrated form of the molecule is obtained by reaction with water. Chloro[1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazol-2-ylidene]gold(I) has a methyl ketone as its residue.
