It is a heterocyclic compound and has been used medicinally as an antihypertensive drug. 1-(2,5-Dichloro-4-nitrophenyl)-2,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrrole is an anthranilic acid derivative with a hydrogen bond to the carbonyl group. The molecule has two different conformations: one conformation with an open dihedral angle and the other with a closed dihedral angle. The compound also contains two chiral centres at C3 and C4.
