Product Information
- Benzeneacetic Acid, 4-Cyano-Alpha-Oxo-, Ethyl Ester
- Ethyl-4-Cyanobenzoylformate
Ethyl 2-(4-cyanophenyl)-2-oxoacetate is a substrate for the Friedel-Crafts reaction. It is a synthetically derived compound that has been expressed in recombinant bacteria and can be used as a substrate for the kinetic resolution of racemic mixtures of chiral alcohols. The enantioselectivity of this substrate has been shown to be enhanced by dehydrogenase activity and kinetic parameters. Modifications to the substrate structure have also led to an increase in hydrogen bonding, which enhances the hexane solubility.
