It has been shown to inhibit the production of proteins and enzymes related to neurodegenerative diseases such as sclerosis, dementia, and alzheimer's disease. 5-(4-Chlorobenzyl)-1,5-dihydro-4H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-4-one inhibits the enzyme hydrazide reductase and prevents the metabolism of hydrazines. 5-(4-Chlorobenzyl)-1,5-dihydro-4H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-4 -one is an inhibitor of acid hydrazide which is produced by bacteria or fungi
