Wilms tumor protein is a protein that is encoded by the WT1 gene on chromosome 11p in humans. WT1 is a tumour suppressor gene associated with the development of Wilms' Tumour, from which it was named. Mutations in exon 7 and 9 of WT1 have been recurrently identified in acute myeloid leukemia and associated with poorer prognosis and chemotherapy resistance. The WT1 peptide is a transcription factor that contains four zinc finger motifs at the C-terminus and a proline/glutamine-rich DNA-binding domain at the N-terminus. It has an essential role in the normal development of the urogenital system.WT1 has been ranked by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) as the Number 1 target for cancer immunotherapy. The arginine is isotopically labelled with carbon-13(6) and nitrogen-15(4).
