Product Information
cis-ACPD is a selective 5-HT2 receptor antagonist. It binds to the 5-HT2 receptor, blocking the binding of serotonin and inhibiting intracellular Ca2+ levels. This drug also inhibits glutamate release by cerebellar granule cells in response to depolarization. The drug has been shown to selectively inhibit uptake of extracellular Ca2+ in various types of cells, but not in neurons. Cis-ACPD interacts with a molecular target that is present on all cells, but not on neurons or glia. The molecule is a G protein coupled receptor that can be activated by binding with serotonin or other ligands and releases an intracellular signaling molecule such as cyclic AMP (cAMP).
