A-443654 is a chemical inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit the transcription of genes involved in mitochondrial membrane potential and protein synthesis. This drug also inhibits epidermal growth factor, which may be due to its ability to bind to the Mcl-1 protein. A-443654 has been shown to activate primary cells and transform them into cancerous cells, which may be due to its ability to induce HIV infection. It is not yet known how A-443654 induces cellular transformation.
