Description:

2-Bromo-4-isopropoxy-5-nitrotoluene is an organic compound that is used as a precursor to the drug ceritinib, which is used in the treatment of cancer. 2-Bromo-4-isopropoxy-5-nitrotoluene can be synthesized by hydrogenation reduction of 4-(2-chloroethyl)benzonitrile with sodium hydroxide. The synthesis of 2BINNT also involves coupling reactions with piperidine and hydrogenation. The structural formula of 2BINNT can be determined by analysis of its infrared spectrum, which shows peaks at 2900 and 1730 cm−1. This product has been found to be useful on a large scale for the production of ceritinib.
