Description:

EPO is a human hormone that is produced in the kidney and liver, and is responsible for the production of red blood cells. It has been shown to be neuroprotective in animal models of Parkinson's disease, stroke, and head injury. EPO also has a protective effect on chronic kidney disease. The dietary requirement for EPO is not well-established, but it may be necessary to consume as little as 5-10mg per day to maintain normal levels. EPO is most effective when taken with sodium citrate because it prevents the breakdown of red blood cells by enzymes present in saliva. This hormone encodes for four genes that are involved in erythroid differentiation and cytoskeleton regulation. EPO can be detected using chromatographic techniques or transporters, such as PEPT1 (peptide transporter 1) and LAT2 (L-type amino acid transporter 2). Citric acid helps regulate the pH of blood plasma, while chloride ions are important for maintaining
