Description:
Dehydroisoandrosterone 3-sulfate sodium salt dihydrate (DHEA-S) is produced in the adrenal cortex, and is an androstane steroid. DHEA-S is a neurosteroid and neurotrophin, acting as a modulator of NMDA receptors, GABA, and in a similar manner to NGF and BDNF. Dehydroisoandrosterone 3-sulfate is a metabolite of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA).
