Product Information
1-Nitro-4-(phenoxymethyl)benzene is a benzyl anion that has been shown to inhibit the HIV-1 virus. It binds to the viral envelope protein gp120, which prevents it from binding to a CD4 receptor on the surface of a host cell. 1-Nitro-4-(phenoxymethyl)benzene is an intramolecular radical anion and can be used as a synthetic intermediate for other compounds with pharmaceutical properties. It is also used in organic chemistry as a measure of electron density in molecules.
