Description:
3-Cyanophenyl isothiocyanate is a copper salt that inhibits the polymerization of actin and myosin in muscle. It has been shown to have inhibitory activity on the glucose-induced insulin secretion from β-cells and on the glucagon release from α-cells in pancreatic islets. 3-Cyanophenyl isothiocyanate also has anti-inflammatory effects, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. This compound also has anions insensitive properties, which may be due to its ability to bind to anions such as phosphate.
