Methyl 4-(2,2-dicyanovinyl)benzoate is an alkene that has been used for the allylation of carbocycles and cycloadducts. It can be synthesized by the reaction of an alkenes with allyl chloride in the presence of catalytic amounts of chloride and palladium. This compound is also a precursor to amines and chlorides. Methyl 4-(2,2-dicyanovinyl)benzoate has been shown to react intramolecularly with electron-rich olefins or electron-poor olefins to form allyltributylstannane.
