Product Information
- 1H-Imidazole-5-carboxylic acid, 1-(1-phenylethyl)-
3- (1-Phenylethyl) 3H-imidazole-4-carboxylic acid is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of imidazoles. It is an optical and magnetic resonance imaging contrast agent with malignant properties. The mechanism of action is thought to be due to its ability to bind to DNA and RNA, leading to cell death. 3-(1-Phenylethyl)-3H-imidazole-4-carboxylic acid has been shown in vitro and in vivo studies to have anti-tumour activity against prostate cancer cells, which may be due to its inhibition of protein synthesis or induction of apoptosis. The drug also has a low solubility making it difficult for uptake by cells, which may account for its effectiveness as a treatment for cancerous tumours.
