Product Information
3-[(Allyloxy)methyl]-3-ethyloxetane is a reactive chemical compound that is used in the synthesis of cationic polymers. 3-[(Allyloxy)methyl]-3-ethyloxetane has been shown to be able to form crosslinks with epoxide groups and form polymers. The ring-opening reactions are thermally reversible, and the oxetane morphologies can be classified as linear or cyclic. Protonation of this compound leads to the formation of carbocations, which are reactive intermediates that can react with other molecules. Compartmentalization of this compound leads to the formation of cations, which are positively charged species. Cationic polymerization is a technique in which 3-[(Allyloxy)methyl]-3-ethyloxetane is used as a monomer for the synthesis of polymers with cationic side chains.
