Product Information

Name:
Inosine 5'-Monophosphate Barium Salt Hydrate
Synonyms:
  • 5-Inosinic acid barium salt
Description:

Inosine 5'-monophosphate barium salt hydrate is a water-soluble inorganic compound that precipitates as a white solid. It has been used in magnetic recording and as an intermediate in the synthesis of hypophosphite and inosinic acid. In order to isolate this compound, a filtrate was obtained by adding alkali to a solution of ribose, which contains the desired product. The filtered solution was then heated to produce a white crystalline precipitate, which was collected by vacuum filtration and dried under vacuum. The isolated product was found to be soluble in water, but insoluble in alcohols. This compound also has ferromagnetic properties.
