- Pyrrole, 2,4-diphenyl-
2,4-Diphenylpyrrole is a chemical. Its molecular formula is C14H10 and it has a molecular weight of 198.24 g/mol. 2,4-Diphenylpyrrole has the following structural formula:
2,4-Diphenylpyrrole is an organic compound that can be synthesized from pyrrole and phenylmagnesium bromide in the presence of a dehydrating agent such as phosphorus pentoxide or sulfuric acid. The reaction sequence for this synthesis is called an elimination reaction. This synthetic compound also reacts with dimethyl sulfate to form the oxime (C8H7O), which can be used as a chromophore in nmr analysis. Dimerization of 2,4-diphenylpyrrole is possible under certain conditions and this process leads to the formation of benzene rings.
This chemical exhibits fluorescence when exposed to UV light. Elemental composition analysis
