Description:

Ammonium adipate is a by-product of the ammonium caproate synthesis process. It can be used in wastewater treatment as an alternative to 6-aminocaproic acid. Ammonium adipate has been shown to have electrochemical properties that are similar to those of 6-aminocaproic acid. Ammonium adipate has also been used as a hydrogen donor and acceptor in microbial systems, due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with both ammonium and caprolactam. The structural analysis of ammonium adipate has revealed that it contains two hydrogen bonding interactions, which may contribute to its high value as a hydrogen donor or acceptor.
