Ethylene glycol bis(propionitrile) ether is a byproduct of the production of ethylene. It is introduced into a reaction solution containing acrylonitrile, which reacts to form an intermediate that can then be isolated from the solution. The intermediate is neutralized and reacted with water to produce ethylene glycol bis(propionitrile) ether. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) technique has been used to study the morphology and solvation of this compound.
