Description:

2-Methoxy-N-methylbenzamide is a heterocyclic compound that is an ester of benzoic acid and methanol. It can be produced by reacting 2-methoxybenzoyl chloride with methanol in the presence of a base. This compound has been shown to react with carboxylic acids, hydrazides, and carbocyclic compounds to form heterocyclic derivatives. 2-Methoxy-N-methylbenzamide is also able to form metal derivatives with metals such as copper or zinc. Electrophilic reactions can be used to produce other substituted benzamides.
