Product Information
3-((4-Methylpiperazin-1-yl)methyl)-5-nitro-1H-indole is an inhibitor of bacterial replication. It binds to the active site of the enzyme DNA polymerase and prevents the addition of nucleotides to the growing strand of DNA. This results in cell death by preventing DNA synthesis. 3-(4-Methylpiperazin-1-yl)methyl)-5-nitro-1H indole has been shown to inhibit the growth of a number of bacteria, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium avium complex, and Clostridium perfringens. The compound was found to be effective as a fluorescence probe for monitoring DNA synthesis in living cells and has been used as a chemical inhibitor in enzymatic reactions.
