4-Methoxybenzyltriphenylphosphonium chloride (4MBTPPC) is a synthetic compound that exhibits low potency as an agonist of the ferrocene receptor, activated by the lipoprotein signal transduction pathway. 4MBTPPC has been shown to be a proliferator and to exhibit anti-inflammatory properties in animal models. It is synthesized by reacting 4-methoxybenzyl chloride with triphenylphosphine and magnesium. The synthesis of this compound was reported in 1967.
