1-Methylquinazolin-4(1H)-one is a redox potential regulator that can be used to form a film-forming polymer. It is an aromatic hydrocarbon that has been shown to have regulatory effects on various biological systems. In the presence of nitro groups, 1-methylquinazolin-4(1H)-one can initiate polymerization reactions. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi in biological samples as well as being able to seal wounds. 1-Methylquinazolin-4(1H)-one is also used as a crosslinking agent for polymers and as an antioxidant for polyunsaturated fatty acids.
