Description

Ciclacillin is a synthetic antibiotic that is used for the treatment of bacterial and fungal infections. It is a member of the penicillin family of drugs and inhibits microbial growth by inhibiting protein synthesis. Ciclacillin has been found to be active against most strains of bacteria, including Gram-positive cocci, Gram-negative cocci, Gram-positive bacilli, Gram-negative bacilli, and some spirochetes. It also has anti-parasitic properties and has been shown to be effective against protozoa such as Entamoeba histolytica. Ciclacillin has proven to be effective against viral infections such as herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1) and human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV1).
